Singapore Police Force Recruitment Requirements 2024

In addition to completing the Singapore Police Force Recruitment Application Form, applicants must meet a number of requirements in order to be considered for a position in the force. These requirements are as follows.

  • Age requirements: Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30. The maximum age limit for those applying for the Senior Officer Scheme is 35 years old.
  • Applicants must have at least 5 GCE “O” Level passes or equivalent, with English as a first language.
  • Physical Fitness: Applicants must pass a Physical Proficiency Test (PPT), which consists of tasks like running, push-ups, and sit-ups.
  • Medical Fitness: Applicants must pass a medical exam, which includes hearing, vision, and general health tests.
  • Background Check: Applicants must have no felony convictions and must pass a security clearance.
  • National Service Requirement: Male Singapore citizens must have completed or be exempt from National Service.
  • Citizenship or Permanent Residence in Singapore: Applicants must be Singapore citizens or permanent residents.

Singapore Police Force Recruitment 2024 Qualifications & Interest

1. Singapore Citizens

Age 16 Years Old and Above

Documentary proof stating that a COC is required by the various foreign government authorities or institutions for specific overseas purposes (e.g. migration/adoption/employment / further education)

2. Non-Singapore Citizens (Including Singapore Permanent Residents)

Submit an appeal for consideration on a case-by-case basis

Resided in Singapore for a minimum period of 6 months, under a valid pass issued by the Immigration Checkpoint Authority (ICA) or the Ministry of Manpower (MOM)

Age 16 Years Old and Above

Documentary proof stating that a COC is required by the various foreign government authorities or institutions for specific overseas purposes (e.g. migration/adoption/employment / further education)

CERTIFICATE OF CLEARANCE (COC)

Applicants may wish to note that there are alternative means to a COC such as a Statutory Declaration through the Commissioner of Oath or a qualified practitioner.

Training

Your professional career will begin with a nine-month residential training program. You will go through a structured curriculum that includes police defense tactics, physical training, criminal law lessons, and leadership development.

You will also receive criminal investigation training and additional leadership training, which will include an overseas component.

Foundational Postings

Expect regular rotations that will allow you to explore various functional areas of the Force. Your career will follow a well-defined path that will prepare you for future command positions.

  1. Frontline Policing: As a Ground Response Force Officer, you will work with the community to combat crime.
  2. Investigation: As an Investigation Officer, you will solve a wide range of crimes, establishing the truth and righting wrongs.
  3. Command: Lead a team of purpose-driven officers to achieve the SPF Vision of making Singapore the safest place in the world.
  4. Staff Officers plan and implement policies to support frontline operations while also developing the Force’s long-term capabilities.

Salary Structure

The starting salary will be determined by an evaluation of academic credentials, relevant work experience, and completion of full-time National Service.

Inspector: $4,850 – $5,600

Sergeant: $2,000 – $2,960

Retirement Package

You will also be eligible for retirement benefits as a uniformed officer under the INVEST Scheme. A monthly contribution equal to 13.25% of your gross salary will be credited to your retirement account beginning with your first year of service and ending when you reach the age of 55.
