AFCAT
The IAF holds the AFCAT exam to recruit Class 1 Gazetted Officers for Flying and Ground Duties in both Technical and Non-Technical areas. Because it is one of the most sought-after tests, a great number of students take it. However, only a select handful pass the exam. Candidates should read this article to learn everything they need to know about the AFCAT test, including the exam dates, selection process, syllabus, exam format, and vacancies.
AFCAT 2023: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has activated AFCAT 1 application correction window on January 10 at 10 AM. The deadline for making changes to the application form is January 13, 2023, at 5 p.m. To access the correction window, candidates need to log in with the required credentials. Candidates can edit details such as name, father’s name, mother’s name, photograph, signature, and thumb impression image. AFCAT 1 admit card 2023 will be released from February 8, 2023 onwards. AFCAT 1 2023 exam will be conducted on February 24, 25, and 26, 2023.

AFCAT Application Form 2023
The window to edit the AFCAT 1 application form 2023 has been made available from January 10 to 13, 2023. Candidates can make corrections in two sections only, i.e. ‘Fill Application Form’ and ‘Upload Documents’. AFCAT 1 application form 2023 was released along with the notification on December 1, 2022. The last date to apply for the exam was December 30. AFCAT 2 application form 2023 will be released in June 2023. The application fee is INR 250 for all categories and can be paid online.
AFCAT Notification 2023

AFCAT Eligibility 2023
To be eligible for the AFCAT exam 2023, candidates need to fulfil the criteria prescribed by IAF in terms of nationality, age limit, educational qualification, and physical standards. AFCAT eligibility criteria is given below:

AFCAT Age limit
The age limits prescribed for the exam are different for different branches. The table below contains the age limit for different branches.

- Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course
- Widows/Widowers and divorcees below 25 years are also not eligible
- Married candidates above 25 years are eligible to apply, but during their training period, they are neither provided married accommodation nor can they live with family

Release of Application Form
Interested candidates need to fill out the application form and pay the fees online. The application fee is INR 250 across all categories.
Issue of Admit Card
The admit card is released online on the official website. Candidates need to download their admit cards by logging with the required credentials.
Appearing in the Exam
AFCAT exam is conducted online and comprises questions from General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test. The duration of the test is two hours and carries 300 marks. The EKT exam, conducted for Ground Duty (Technical) branch candidates, comprises questions from Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering. The duration of the test is 45 minutes and carries 150 marks.
Declaration of Result
The result is announced online. Candidates need to login with the required credentials to check the result. Based on the result of the online test, candidates are selected for the AFSB test.
Appearing in AFSB test
The AFSB interview is conducted in three stages. Stage I comprise the Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test. Stage II comprises Psychological tests, Group Tests, and Interviews. A computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) will be conducted for Flying Branch candidates.
Final Selection
The final selection of candidates is done based on the performance in the online test and AFSB test.

What is AFCAT Exam?
The IAF administers the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) to select Class-I Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical). The exam is given twice a year, in February and August/September. AFCAT is one of the most competitive defense exams, with thousands of individuals applying to join the Air Force Academy. Candidates must prepare well for the AFCAT exam by reviewing the exam pattern, syllabus, previous year question papers, and practice tests.
AFCAT 1 2023 exam will be conducted on February 24, 25, and 26, 2023. The admit card for the exam will be issued on the official website from February 8, 2022, onwards. Both men and women candidates can apply for the exam. AFCAT vacancies have been announced separately for male and female candidates for Flying, Ground Duty, Meteorology, etc.,
AFCAT is an entry point for both male and female candidates who want to join the Indian Air Force for both Short Service Commission in the Flying Branch and Permanent Commission/Short Service Commission in Ground Duties for both Technical and Non-Technical jobs.

AFCAT Exam: Types of Commission
AFCAT exam is conducted for granting the following two types of commissions:
Permanent Commission (PC) for Men:Â Candidates joining as PC officers will serve till the age of superannuation in their respective branches as per their rank.
Short Service Commission (SSC) for Men & Women
- The engagement period for Flying Branch (Men and Women) SSC Officers is 14 years from the date of Commissioning (Non-extendable)
- The initial tenure for Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) SSC Officers is for a period of ten years. An extension of four years may be granted subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability, and merit
- Grant of Permanent Commission (PC) is considered during the last one year of service subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability, and merit

AFCAT Admit Card 2023
AFCAT admit card 2023Â will be released online by the Indian Air Force on February 8, 2023. To download AFCAT admit card, registered candidates need to log in with email ID, password, and captcha code. The hard copy of the admit card is not sent to candidates by post.

AFCAT Question Papers
AFCAT question papers are the most important part of preparation. By solving the question papers, candidates will be able to understand the overall structure of the exam and its difficulty level. It also helps in improving the speed and accuracy of solving questions.
AFCAT Exam Analysis 2023

AFCAT Result 2023
AFCAT result 2023 will be declared online by IAF. Candidates need to login into their account by entering their email ID, password, and captcha code. The result displays the qualifying status, section-wise marks, overall marks, and cutoff marks. On the basis of the AFCAT result, candidates are called for AFSB Interview. The marks of candidates are normalized to release the result.
AFCAT Cutoff 2023
AFCAT cut-off is released along with the result and is calculated out of 300 marks. The cutoff for the EKT exam is calculated out of 150. AFCAT cut-off is calculated after normalization. In 2021, AFCAT 1 & 2 cut-offs were 157. Candidates who secure equal to or more than the cutoff marks are selected for AFSB Interview.
