The GRE Subject Test evaluates the candidates’ ability in a particular subject. Candidates should note that the GRE Subject Tests only extend to Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Psychology.

What is the GRE General Test?
The GRE General Exam, developed and administered by ETS, is a standardized test used to assess a candidate’s overall intellectual preparation for graduate school. The GRE General Exam evaluates a candidate’s analytical writing, numeric abilities, and verbal reasoning skills. The GRE Exam is given throughout the year, and applicants can take the GRE General Test whenever they like. Students seeking admission to MS courses, as well as a few MBA courses and professional courses at the graduate level, must take the GRE General Test. As the majority of colleges throughout the world begin to accept GRE scores, an increasing number of students take the GRE exam. There are three formats for the GRE General Test:
- GRE Computer-Based Test is the GRE General Test taken on a computer at a GRE-designated test center. Candidates should note that GRE Computer Based Tests are available in all countries that have access to the Internet and computer technology. This online form of the GRE test is the most widely used mode of appearing for the GRE General Test.

GRE Eligibility: According to ETS, there are no explicit GRE qualifying criteria. Everyone, regardless of age or qualifications, can register for the GRE exam. Those applying for master’s programs, on the other hand, must take the GRE. The only other consideration for a candidate is that he or she will be asked to present their original passport as proof of identity at the exam center, thus candidates must have a valid passport before registering for the GRE exam.

ETS has not announced any official statement regarding the qualification required to appear for GRE Exam. However, candidates are expected to possess a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

GRE Exam Fees in India: The application fee for the GRE General Test is $228 for Indian students registering for the GRE test. The GRE fee in Indian rupees is roughly Rs. 18,863.31 ($1= Rs 82.73) approximately. GRE Subject Test costs $150 worldwide, which would cost Indian students Rs. 12,410.07 ($1= Rs 82.73) approximately. Also, if the applicants want to change the center or reschedule the test, they would be required to pay an extra fee for the same.
