AFCAT Vacancy 2023 Application | Dates
AFCAT Vacancy 2023: Along with the notice, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced AFCAT 1 vacancy 2023. For the exam, a total of 256 openings have been announced. Male and female candidates will be considered for branch-specific openings. Permanent Commission seats are designated for 10% of CDSE vacancies out of the total vacancies (PC). The NCC Special Entry Flying branch is allocated 10% of the AFCAT opening for Short Service Commission (SSC). In 2021, a total of 269 vacancies for AFCAT 1 and 304 positions for AFCAT 2 were declared.
AFCAT exam is conducted to select candidates for Class-I Gazetted Officers in Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches/NCC Special Entry/Meteorology Entry for courses.

Types of Commission Offered through AFCAT
The different types of commissions offered to candidates through AFCAT exam are given below:
PC for Men: Candidates joining as PC officers continue to serve till the age of superannuation as per their branch and rank
SSC for Men and Women: The engagement period for Flying Branch SSC officers is fourteen years from the date of commissioning
The initial tenure for SSC officers in Ground Duty for both technical and non-technical branches would be for a period of ten years. An extension of four years may be granted, but it is subjected to the suitability, willingness, service requirement, and vacancies available.
Details of AFCAT Training
Candidates are recommended for training on the basis of merit and availability of vacancies in various branches/ sub-branches. The duration of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that for Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches is 52 weeks at various Air Force Training Organisations.
AFCAT Salary
The Flying Officers are entitled to AFCAT salary of INR 56,100-1,77,500. Successful candidates are placed at pay level 10. The MSP provided to candidates is INR 15,500. Flight Cadets receive a fixed stipend of INR 56,100 per month during one year of training. Besides, candidates are also entitled to various allowances.
