Berea Nurses Institute offers a comprehensive range of services to support the Healthcare Profession, including recruitment, and supply of permanent and temporary staff to hospitals, clinics, retirement villages, old age homes, and government healthcare-related institutions. We further provide in-service training to our staff as well as prospective staff, workshops, and pre- and post-assessment of staff.

BEREA NURSES INSTITUTE APPLICATION

The Berea Nurses Institute and the South African Nursing Council (SANC) have launched an online admission application form for potential students interested in attending the Berea Nurses Institute for the 2023 academic year.

The Berea Nurses Institute provides training in collaboration with a variety of private and public hospitals and community institutions, allowing students to obtain practical experience under the supervision of our Educators and Registered Nurses.

Every student enrolled in any of the Berea Nurses Institute’s programs of study must carefully read, comprehend, and follow the instructions.

 

 

  BEREA NURSES INSTITUTE REQUIREMENTS 2023

The following subject criteria are required:

• Senior Certificate: English HG D or SG C, Biology HG D or SG C, Mathematics HG D or SG C and an M score of 17

• National Senior Certificate: English Level 4, Life Sciences Level 4, Mathematics Level 4 or Maths Literacy Level 5, and an APS of 27 or more (Life Orientation counts half the score)

• National Vocational Certificate: 50% in Fundamental Subjects (English First Additional Language, Maths/Maths Literacy, Life Orientation) and 60% in the Vocational Subjects (SA Health Care System, Public Health, The Human Body and Mind, and Community Oriented Primary Care)

• Current Grade 12 learners must meet the National Senior Certificate requirements in their Grade 11 final results.

 

National Senior Certificate

An English pass rate of at least 50% (level 4), A Life Sciences pass rate of at least 50% (level 4)

A minimum of 25 points is necessary to obtain admission to Phase 2.

 

For Foreign Students

1.1. There are prescribed requirements to be submitted to the South African Nursing Council before consideration for the training of foreign nurses

1.2. All candidates asking for recognition of previous nursing training must be registered/enrolled with the SANC prior to the commencement of the course.

1.3. SAQA evaluation certificate of the educational certificate of the candidate must be provided before commencement of the course.

1.4. The student must be approved by the South African Nursing Council (SANC)

 

HOW TO  BECOME A NURSE IN SOUTH AFRICA

To become a certified nurse, you must first get a certificate from a recognized institution and then register with the SANC.

In South Africa, both private and state nursing institutes provide the same degrees and certificates. Simply choose a school that meets your requirements to complete your qualification.

 

 

WHAT SUBJECT/COURSE ARE REQUIRED TO BECOME A NURSE IN SOUTH AFRICA?

Requirements for Admission: Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences are encouraged, but they are not required at all colleges. You must have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or comparable certificate at exit level 4, with the following subjects: English, mathematics, and science (50-59 percent )

The South African Nursing Council (SANC) is the organization responsible for establishing and maintaining nursing education and practice standards in South Africa. It is a self-governing, financially self-sufficient statutory entity that was formed by the Nursing Act of 1944 (Act No. 45 of 1944) and is now governed by the Nursing Act of 2005. (Act No. 33 of 2005).

Proof of Registration Fee Payment (compulsory for SA and International applicants)

Certified copy of your ID document (ID document is required for South African nationals; your application will not be processed until you provide a certified copy of your ID and your passport number for international applicants).

Exam outcomes: Grade 12 final results (if available). Grade 11 scores are crucial for your application (if you are currently in grade 12). As a result, keep it on hand.
