This qualification is designed to produce a mid-level health worker who is able to provide emergency care services primarily within South Africa, in contexts that range from rural disadvantaged communities to sophisticated, highly developed urban areas. In addition, this qualification aims to produce a competent mid-level healthcare worker who will take cognizance of South African history and be able to adapt to the unique circumstances of a changing South Africa with emphasis on equity in health care and reduction in the burden of diseases.

The qualification also provides the necessary foundational knowledge, skills and insights needed to form a platform for further study in the field of Emergency Care. The qualification is thus designed to enable learners to pursue further personal and professional development and to promote life-long learning.

This qualification is designed to produce entry-level emergency care providers who are clinical assistants within the emergency medical care and rescue. The qualification will develop the necessary foundational knowledge; skills and attitudes necessary to form the basis for further study in the field of pre-hospital emergency medical care.

This qualification also aims to promote an understanding of the multi-disciplinary approach to effective, efficient patient care. The qualification is also designed to enable students to pursue further personal and professional development and to promote life-long learning.

High Angle 1 Rescue

The aim of this course is to provide you with the necessary insight, theoretical knowledge and technical skills needed to function as an independent rope rescue technician.

Fire Search and Rescue

The Fire Search and Rescue course will provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills for incidents involving victims that need to be searched for, and rescued from incidents involving oxygen deprived environments in smoke and heat-filled compartments.

Motor Vehicle Rescue

The Motor Vehicle Rescue course will provide you with the necessary knowledge, skills and techniques to extricate entrapped victims involved in land-based vehicle collisions.

Defensive Driving

Defensive driving programme was implemented with the aim of improving driving ability, reduce driver’s error amongst officials and also highlight how drivers can be aware of potential risks posed by other drivers on the road.

This course is aimed at qualified Basic Life Support Providers who wish to update their professional knowledge and stay current in their skills.

This course is aimed at qualified Ambulance Emergency Assistants (AEA) who wish to update their professional knowledge and stay current in their skills.

This course will give participants the necessary basic skills to assist infants, children and adults who are experiencing choking, cardiac and respiratory arrest.

This course will provide pre-hospital providers with the necessary skills to assist patients experiencing obstetric emergencies with the aim to decrease maternal mortality rates.

This course is aimed at nurses, advanced life support (ALS) providers and medical practitioners (GPs and specialists) who wish to improve and/or update their advanced management of adult patients in cardiac arrest, post-cardiac arrest care, and arrhythmia management.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS). This course is aimed at healthcare professionals who need to perform CPR with the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on adults, children and infant patients in various settings.

TPH-99 – This programme is developed for the operational Gauteng EMS operational staff on the accurate completion of the patient report form, which may be referred to in future for legal purposes.
